Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for an NPI Configuration Engineer. Full‑time, permanent position, 39 hours per week. The role operates from the unionised site in Llay, Wrexham (LL12 0PB
) in partnership with Unite the Union.

- Act as the point of contact for all technical input into the ERP system
- Establish feasible solutions to design and engineering problems where precedence does not exist
- Ensure all aspects of contract review are adhered to in order to support customer expectations
- Help and advise engineering colleagues with queries and changes through the works‑query note process
- Manage electronic data transfer and data management between Magellan, customers and suppliers
- Ensure all standards and procedures are adhered to
- Assist the first‑article proving of all data and support documentation in a production environment
- Liaise with external customers and suppliers to develop best practices in line with product requirements
- Attend daily/weekly sessions to update on progress
- Support the NPI process as and when required
Academic
- HNC/HND or higher
- Minimum 5 years of production and engineering experience in an aerospace environment
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP desirable)
- Experience creating and maintaining routings and Bo Ms
- Experience with configuration and change management
- Knowledge of GD&T techniques
- Computer literate with working knowledge of company systems
- Sound knowledge of multi‑discipline engineering practices, processes and procedures
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining bills of materials
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining manufacturing routings and process flows
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Sound knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments and standard hardware
Skills
- CAD experience (Catia V5 desirable)
- Good practical coordination skills (company test)
- Good understanding of spoken and written English (company test)
- Ability to work using own initiative
- Ability to work as a team as well as independently
- Ability to react and support operational requirements
- Confident with technical decisions
- Can interact and work with a multi‑disciplined team
- Confident in explaining and presenting issues or errors to multi‑functional departments
