The Teaching Assistant plays an important role in supporting teaching and learning at Belvidere School, working with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. The postholder will provide in-class, small-group, and individual support to pupils with a wide range of needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop independence, and make positive progress. As part of this role, the Teaching Assistant may also be deployed to support pupils within the KS4 Belvidere Bridge provision, the school's internal alternative provision supporting pupils with additional behavioural, emotional, or learning needs.
The role therefore requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to inclusion.
- Support pupils in KS3 and KS4 to access learning within mainstream classrooms.
- Work under the direction of teachers to deliver targeted support to individuals and small groups.
- Adapt resources and approaches to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and other barriers to learning.
- Assist with the implementation of pupil passports, support plans, and agreed strategies.
- Provide structured, consistent support to help pupils remain focused and regulated.
- Support pupils within the KS4 Belvidere Bridge provision as required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from mainstream learning.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement through consistent routines.
- Support reintegration and transition planning in collaboration with Bridge staff.
- Support the promotion of positive behaviour and school expectations.
- Assist with de‑escalation and behaviour support using trauma‑aware and restorative approaches.
- Monitor pupil wellbeing and report concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain a calm, professional, and supportive presence at all times.
- Work flexibly across year groups, subjects, and provisions as directed.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, pastoral staff, and the SEND team.
- Contribute positively to team meetings, reviews, and professional discussions.
- Be adaptable to changing pupil needs and school priorities.
- Contribute to accurate record keeping related to pupil support and progress.
- Share relevant information with staff to ensure consistent support.
- Support the preparation of learning resources as required.

Essential- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
- Ability to support pupils across KS3 and KS4 with a range of needs.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working across different settings and provisions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Calm, patient, and positive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, or additional learning needs.
- Experience working in alternative provision or pastoral support roles.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed or restorative approaches.
- Experience supporting pupils within KS4.
