Overview
Provide a high quality, safe and effective Minor Injury service that meets the needs of the people and communities' services by Powys Teaching Health Board. This role requires the autonomous clinical assessment of minor injuries and ailments, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, establishing diagnoses, arranging appropriate treatment and/or follow up, and referral on to specialist inpatient, outpatient management as necessary.
The Practitioner will autonomously develop individual treatment and care packages for each patient, by interpreting evidenced based clinical guidelines to assist in treatment planning. Provide expert clinical care for patients and to support other staff to develop their competencies in Minor Injury management. The post holder will be involved in teaching and training both formally to clinical staff. Work collaboratively across primary and community care, and link to other specialists within the acute setting to ensure an integrated care pathway for people with minor injuries.
- Autonomously perform clinical assessment of minor injuries and ailments.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, establish diagnoses, and arrange appropriate treatment and follow-up.
- Make referrals to specialist inpatient or outpatient management when necessary.
- Develop individual treatment and care packages for each patient by applying evidence-based clinical guidelines.
- Provide expert clinical care and support other staff to develop competencies in Minor Injury management.
- Engage in teaching and training for clinical staff, both formally and informally.
