Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician ensures dynamometer equipment is operating effectively and efficiently. This role is responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of dynamo meters and related control systems and hardware. The Maintenance Technician develops and maintains strong working relationships by working closely with dynamometer technicians, engineers and supervisors. With a focus on the preferred skills and qualifications, the hiring manager will be willing to train the right candidate that meets the minimum qualifications.

The position is in Livonia, MI.

• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, including dynamo meters and other associated support hardware, using precision test instruments to troubleshoot issues
• Adjust functional parts of machines and control instruments, diagnose and maintain electrical systems
• Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
• Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance on dynamo meters and control systems
• Remove defective parts by dismantling dynamometer hardware, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools
• Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
• Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions, responding to requests and completing required documentation
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 yearof commercial or industrial machine maintenanceor equivalent military experience
• Ability to diagnose and solve electrical and computer software and hardware issues related to the dynamo meters
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Knowledge of applicable safety procedures
• Must have own tools

• 2+ years of dynamometer repair and test technician experience
• Experience with AC dynamo meters and drives;
  
  Eddy current dynamo meters and water brakes
• Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
