The Laser Operator II will operate laser cutting machines to produce precision-cut components while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role includes independent task execution, responsibility for machine setup, monitoring, and basic maintenance. In addition to hands‑on production responsibilities, this position offers the opportunity to take on expanded responsibilities over time — including mentoring junior operators, supporting process improvements, and contributing to effective workflow within the Fabrication Department.

Candidates who demonstrate strong technical ability, initiative, and communication skills will have a clear pathway to increased responsibilities, and advancement into roles such as Team Lead.

• Set up, start up, and operate laser cutting equipment (Amada, Mitsubishi)
• Effectively comprehend & execute work order instructions per schedules
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions
• Read cut sheets to ensure the correct material and quantities are being used
• Monitor machine performance, including pressures, gauges, alarms, tip-ups, and cutting quality
• Inspect parts per work instruction for dimensional conformity
• De-burr, grind, and finish metal components as required
• Ensure material, quantity, and cut accuracy match specifications
• Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance
• Communicate machine issues and support troubleshooting
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and participate in daily shop clean-up
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication department

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 4 years of laser machine experience
• Advanced math skills and mechanical aptitude
• Intermediate technical knowledge with reading, understanding blueprints, schematics, and knowledge of laying out material, taking measurements using a tape measure or scale
• Ability to operate a Hi-Lo and overhead crane
• Strong customer service skills, detail oriented, good communication skills

• Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
• Familiarity with nesting components using CAD/CAM or laser cutting software (e.g., Amada AP100, Amada VPSS, Sigma
  
  NEST, or similar)
