Engine Builder

Talascend is currently seeking an Engine Builder I with a leading automotive manufacturer locatedin Livonia, Michigan.

Overview
The Engine Builder I assembles and builds sub-assemblies, as well as engines. The role will be responsible for building engines and keeping detailed records of component data.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and build any type of engine, following industry standard assembly techniques.
• Measure components to close tolerances.
• Set and verify part clearances.
• Use measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Use of required hand tools.
• Engine build record keeping with component history data.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of engine build or mechanic experience.
• Preferred:
  Associate degree or post high school education in an automotive related field.

• Ability to operate typical shop equipment (hoists, jacks, hand tools, etc.).
• Ability to diagnose engine mechanical issues.
• Must have basic computer skills and excellent organizational skills.
• Must be flexible and eager to learn.
• Must pay strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.

• Ability to complete engine teardown/build skills and able to follow 543 charts.
• Able to perform simple fabrications.
