The organization is a Data Engineer an enterprise data platform modernization initiative focused on migrating from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. These roles will report functionally to the Lead Data Engineer and will play a critical role in executing the migration strategy, modernizing legacy data processes, and building scalable, cloud-based data solutions.

The foundational Azure infrastructure has been established. The current phase of the initiative is centered on retooling existing assets, connecting legacy objects, and delivering production-ready data pipelines within a modern Azure ecosystem.

• Collaborate with the Lead Data Engineer to execute the migration of on-premises SQL Server environments to Microsoft Azure
• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions within the Azure ecosystem
• Implement solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric as the preferred platform, or comparable Azure-native services when appropriate
• Work with Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and related services as required
• Refactor, support, and maintain existing SSIS packages during the transition period
• Migrate and validate legacy data objects, ensuring data integrity and performance optimization
• Develop and optimize SQL and Python-based data transformation processes
• Support CI/CD deployment pipelines using Azure Dev Ops and related tooling
• Contribute to data architecture discussions, documentation, and best practice development
• Participate in hybrid collaboration, working onsite two days per week with the engineering team

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer in Microsoft-centric environments
• Hands‑on experience with Azure data services and cloud migration initiatives
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
• Experience modernizing or supporting SSIS packages in legacy‑to‑cloud transitions
• Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and CI/CD frameworks
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills
