POSITION SUMMARY:
The Infant Mental Health Therapist works as a member of a team with program staff and community sources to provide a continuum of services to young children (0 - 6 years old) and their families in an effort to strengthen and preserve families, assist in identifying individual needs, and provide and assist in coordinating services to meet each individual's needs.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:
- A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related Human Service field is required.
- Registration/licensure (Limited/Full) as a social worker, counselor, or psychologist in the State of Michigan required.
- Minimum1 year direct clinical experience in providing therapy services to young children (0- 6 years old) and their families is required (includes postgraduate level internship experience).
- An Infant Mental Health certification and/or endorsement is preferred. A waiver to provide clinical services to birth to three population provided by employer to work towards endorsement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide parent-child relationship focused therapy and case management services within the home and community settings for pregnant women, fathers, and young children birth to age six.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and treatment planning with measurable objectives.
- Provide support and crisis intervention with families and children involved with the program.
- Assist in coordination and referrals of support services for the family.
- Provide parent education and guidance. Support overall child development.
- Work cooperatively as a member of a team with program staff and community partners.
- Participate in monthly marketing and outreach activities, develop referral relationships with other agencies and maintain those referral relationships.
- Submit timely and accurate documentation of services, billing data and required paperwork.
LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation with automobile insurance.
