Job Title TEAS Prep Mentor - On-Call (Applicant Pool)
Job Summary
The TEAS Prep Mentor Program strives to provide a positive intellectual, social, and economic impact on the communities we serve, while maintaining a supportive and welcoming environment for our students. Our mission is to encourage and assist students as they determine, progress towards, and achieve academic and personal goals. Our goal is to support all pre-nursing students in preparation for the TEAS , and in doing so, positively impact academic success, retention, and graduation rates.
Under the supervision of the Academic Success Coach for the TEAS , the TEAS Prep Mentor will aid students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the TEAS .
Job Duties
- Attend and participate in training sessions and meetings.
- Assist in the facilitation of TEAS group study sessions and individual meetings.
- Assist in coordinating and facilitating TEAS events and/or workshops.
- Promote the use of effective study strategies.
- Refer students to specific campus resources when appropriate.
- Serve as a positive academic role model.
- Maintain confidentiality with any shared information.
- Effectively utilize various programs, such as Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and Microsoft Office to perform job duties.
- Collaborate with fellow members of the TEAS Prep Program and Learning Support Services.
- Communicate with students, faculty, and staff in a professional and timely manner.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and eagerness to support students.
- Keep work areas neat and clean.
- Attend and complete scheduled performance evaluations.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Successfully passed the TEAS .
- Desire to help students succeed.
- Ability to apply study strategies, goal setting, organization skills, and time management while working with students.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment with a variety of students, faculty, and staff.
- Exhibit a friendly, respectful, and professional demeanor.
- Awareness and sensitivity to individual learning styles and needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a mentor.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Pre-nursing or current nursing student, or successful completion of a nursing program.

This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. Communicating and exchanging information with individuals electronically or in person. This role may also involve standing and walking for periods of time, and the use of hands and moving objects on occasion, of up to 10 lbs. - Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Salary $15/hour
Work Hours Flexible weekly schedule with some evenings and weekends required.
