Job OverviewThe Advanced Practice Provider APP will manage the mid level provider team.
This role combines advanced clinical practice with educational and administrative responsibilities to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to our neonatal patients.
The APP will be instrumental in managing the mid-level providers and also guiding the NICU team, enhancing clinical practices, and fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
In this role, the candidate provides coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and evidence based practice.
Certification and Licensure- APN license
- Master's degree in Nursing MSN with a specialization in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner NNP or equivalent
- Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license
- CDS and DEA
- National certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner NNP-BC from an accredited certifying body
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a Level 3 NICU, with at least 2 years in a leadership or educational role
- CPR certification NRP and BLS certification
- Provides medical care and treatment to neonates in the critical care setting under the direction of a Neonatologist
- Responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of newborn/neonatal care delivered to patients who present to the NICU, Labor and Delivery Unit and Mother Baby Unit
- Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and interprets laboratory studies and performs billing
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment
- Proficient in electronic health record EHR systems and documentation
- Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications
- Utilizes protocols and nursing care practice for neonates and newborn patients
- Discusses cases with obstetrician and neonatologist
- Provides education to patients and parents
