Organize and administer individualized age‑specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports the philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements and other regulatory agencies.
Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating.
- A current New Jersey RN license is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required. (American Heart Association Only)
- Completion of all Orientation requirements of Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

- Every other weekend is required. The schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs.
- Assists patient in the use of ambulation techniques and assistive devices such as commode chair walker hip chair and crutches etc and positioning of patient
- Completes daily patient classification according to facility policy
- Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines
- Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associate's competence and patient care needs
- Demonstrates the ability to assess document and formulate patient plan of care in the immediate post‑op phase
- Demonstrates understanding of hospital policy and procedure regarding restraints
- Demonstrates understanding of/states blood administrative hospital procedure
- Evaluates effectiveness interventions and revises plan of care accordingly
- Gives concise and accurate change of shift report based on current status of patient and outcome of care provided
- Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department
- Initiates/develops multidisciplinary care plans and discharge plans in accordance with department standards and using appropriate tools e g patient care pathways
- Integrates psychosocial physical nutritional and rehabilitation needs of the patient in‑patient care and discharge planning
- Keeps open communication with family members to provide information in order to anticipate delays or changes with the patient s progress
- Performs and documents accurate/appropriate physical assessment as indicated by patient condition
- Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified tools
- Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedure safety guidelines and infection control principles
- Prepares environment to receive the post‑operative patient from PACU in a timely and efficient manner
