Join our Occupational Therapy Department and become part of a team dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adult clients. The Sensory Technician plays an essential role in supporting therapeutic services by engaging clients in structured group sessions, swing-based activities, and individualized interventions. This position works collaboratively with occupational therapists to implement treatment plans, promote participation, and support regulation, independence, and overall well-being.
PrimaryFunction
- Assist with client use of sensory modalities as directed by licensed clinical staff; facilitates set up and clean up, supervision of client use of modalities and corresponding documentation.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with direct patient care preferred (on the job training provided)
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Completion of specific procedural skills competency
- Effective communication skills to interact and exchange information with clients and staff.
- Required to participate in random quarterly state mandated drug test and drug screening for cause.
- All employees are required to complete criminal background, central registry, CAIR and drug testing prior to employment
- Coordinate and escort clients to designated sensory therapy areas according to the established schedule; implement therapist-directed sensory diet protocols and ensure timely transport to subsequent sessions.
- Perform post-treatment procedures, including assisting with client transfers, returning equipment to designated locations, and disinfecting mats and therapy equipment.
- Observe and support client performance during treatment sessions and promptly report any changes in status, tolerance, or behavior to the supervising therapist.
- Accurately complete documentation logs related to client modality use, behavioral responses to treatment, and equipment functionality.
- Assist clients with independent exercise programs during the day program, including restorative ambulation and cardiovascular activities, under the direction and supervision of a licensed therapist.
- Actively engage with clients and implement therapeutic strategies as instructed by the supervising therapist to support treatment goals.
- Provide timely and objective feedback to therapists regarding client participation, performance, and response to therapeutic activities.
- Supervise clients during treatment hours to ensure safety and compliance with therapeutic guidelines.
- Support inventory management and routine maintenance of therapy equipment and supplies.
- Promptly report malfunctioning equipment, safety concerns, or potential hazards to the supervisor
- Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and scheduled employee functions.
- Assist in the daily implementation of Sensory Circuit groups across all program rooms in accordance with assigned schedules, ensuring consistency, engagement, and adherence to established protocols.
- Safely transfer clients into sensory swings in accordance with individualized swing profiles established by the Occupational Therapy Department, ensuring proper positioning, safety, and therapeutic effectiveness.
- Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Full-time
- $19.50-$20.00/hour
