General

Job Description:

Performs clerical duties in the office. Scans and maintains a data base for all required files pertaining to the Circuit Clerk's office and the State Archives. Performs searches for inquiries for Naturalization and Genealogy received by mail or internet as well as assisting researchers that come in to the Circuit Clerk's office. Perform clerical duties in court of law.

Responsibilities
  • Process e-filing for Criminal Division.
  • Communicate with customers, employees, researchers and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, assist with paperwork required.
  • Compile, scan, sort and file required files pertaining to the Circuit Clerk’s office.
  • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, and personal computers.
  • Answer telephones, direct calls and take messages.
  • Compute, record and proofread data and other information to be sent to state archives.
  • Maintain and update filing, forms, mailing and database systems, either manually or using a computer.
  • Open, sort and route incoming mail.
  • Process the inquiries received by mail or email regarding court cases, genealogy and naturalization, etc.
  • Keep up-to-date on laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents and government regulations.
  • Assist judge in courtroom, including swearing of witnesses and making and distributing copies.
  • Docket entries, i.e. notes court proceedings, nature of hearing, parties present.
  • File stamp documents in court.
  • Document applicable court exhibits or evidence, delivers to clerk’s office for placement in the evidence vault.
  • Assists in other areas of the Circuit Clerk’s office as needed.
  • Assist public with e-filing.
Qualifications

Education Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have knowledge of principles and processes for proving excellent customer service.
