Overview
The staff pharmacist is responsible to the pharmacy manager for the clinical, technical and distributive functions associated with the pharmacy service. The staff pharmacist provides assistance to other departmental personnel and performs all professional functions associated with their license and diploma pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.

- $57.09/hr + DOE
- PRN Differential
- Accurately compounds and dispenses medications to inpatients, outpatients, oncology patients, hospice patients, employees and members of the community when retail pharmacies are closed or unable to provide service.
- Prepare sterile compounds and maintain sterile compounding environment per USP 797 guidelines
- Handle and prepare hazardous drugs including chemotherapy per USP 800 guidelines
- Continually monitors medications for proper dosing, drug interactions, allergies and amounts dispensed through the patient profiles.
- Dosing and monitoring of warfarin patients per collaborative practice agreement.
- Provides drug information to physicians, staff and patients.
- Dispenses controlled substances and maintains all necessary records in accordance with hospital procedure and all state and federal laws.
- Supervises pharmacy technician, interns, and prospective students.
- Has a working understanding of Omnicell basic functions, and utilization of dispensing machine or ability/desire to learn such skills
- Knowledge and compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement.
- Participation in patient care rounds and clinical pharmacy services.
- Effectively manages drug formulary and drug shortages.
- Responsible for cost effective procurement of medications.
- Knowledgeable of basics of 340b program
- Accepts accountability for own actions.
- Knowledge of all LHC policies related to employment and practice of pharmacy
- Participates in hospital committees.
- Periodically and upon request, provides pharmacy education in services to professional staff.
- Source of information for nursing staff after hours as needed and available for emergency call back.
- Keeps up to date with evolving pharmacy knowledge.
- Other duties as needed to maintain pharmacy operations and delivery of pharmacy services.
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacy D degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current Montana registered pharmacist license in good standing
- Obtain BLS certification within 6 months of employment.
- Trustworthy, honest, non-judgmental and confidential
- An acute awareness of the nature of the work involved in being a hospital pharmacist.
- Flexible hours and open to a variety of job responsibilities.
- Self motivated and willing to learn new skills
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions, and awareness of the references to find this information if not known in the most efficient manner.
