Position: Assistant Accountant (Permanent)
The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are working with an SME in West Lothian that has recently re-structured their finance department.

They have expanded rapidly, have a proven track record of appetite for acquiring businesses and have recently employed a finance director (through Able Bridge Recruitment), and are looking for an assistant accountant/Bookkeeper to join the business to support the finance director.

This vacancy, the result of growth and will report into the finance director and will be office based full time.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide full, end to end, transactional finance support for the finance team ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded along with corporate timetables.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Management of the account’s payable ledger, ensuring invoices are processed within supplier timelines
Management of employee expenses process, ensuring corporate compliance
Esurance that cash and banking positions are updated by reconciling accounts, posting cash transactions and producing weekly cash forecasts/position
Assistance with month end processes including maintenance of accruals and prepayments
Assist the finance director in the preparation of statutory accounts as well as adhoc reporting
Additionally you will support the business in the preparation of VAT returns and other financial fillings as required
Finally, you will be accountable for the timely invoicing of clients, the subsequent maintenance of the sales ledger including allocation of payments and credit control.

The Requirements
We are looking for a well versed assistant accountant or a bookkeeper who is experienced in working within a similar role for at least 3 years within the UK. Being part qualified or AAT qualified would be a distinct advantage however this is not essential. As our client`s finance department is quite small, we are looking for an individual who is self-motivated and who can take initiative to get things done.

Applicants will also need to be organised, have excellent attention to detail and be methodical. Our client uses Xero as a finance system so prior experience of Xero would be beneficial.

Our client does not hold a license to offer study support so will only consider applicants who are able to work unrestricted within the UK and who are based in the immediate vicinity.
