Location: West Calder
Overview
36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year, Fixed Term until 9 August 2026. Parkhead Primary School ELC is seeking to appoint two nurturing and motivated practitioners for a secondment and a maternity leave cover. The nursery is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly on a rota across the opening hours (Monday–Friday, 7.45–6.15).
Responsibilities- Provide general support in relation to the child’s individual care, health, wellbeing and safety to ensure a secure and safe learning environment.
- Work effectively as part of the ELC team to support the learning of the children.
- Apply sound knowledge of early level play and development and contribute to high quality learning experiences and interactions.
- Plan, evaluate and report on children’s progress; work in partnership with parents and partners to ensure we are getting it right for all learners.
- Solution-focused approach with an understanding of supporting pupils within an educational setting and fostering positive relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is required; six months from the date of commencement to become registered. You must apply within three months of your start date.
- This post is regulated work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment.
- Ability to work shifts within the stated rota hours.
