Today, we are in a stronger position than ever, with a clear purpose:
to create a better life for the people of Liverpool City Region through movement, sport, physical activity
.
As we move forward, we are looking to strengthen our Board. We are currently recruiting two new Board Members to bring fresh insight, challenge, and support to our mission.
We are inviting applications for two distinct Board roles. Strategic insight or experience in the following ideal but not essential:
- The Education Sector (Primary, Secondary, Further, or Higher Education).
- The Sport and National Governing Body (NGB) Landscape
.
While each role brings a unique perspective, both will play a vital part in helping MSP support system change and tackle local challenges, reduce inequalities, and embed movement into people’s lives across Liverpool City Region.
Why Join Us Now?MSP is an Active Partnership committed to a place-based approach. We work to support six Place Partners across the Liverpool City Region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral), collaborating with local leaders and communities to enable locally-led change.
Our Board plays a crucial role in balancing these deep community relationships with region-wide strategic opportunities. We are looking for individuals who embody our values, including Being Curious

Who We Are Looking ForWe are keen to hear from candidates who:
- Have experience or insight in Sport/NGBs or Education
. - Are interested in system change and passionate about addressing the inequalities that prevent people from being active.
- Want to contribute to an organisation that is ambitious, reflective, and values locally-led approaches.
- Care about helping to create good lives for people across the Liverpool City Region.
Previous Board experience is welcome but not essential
. What matters most is your perspective, your curiosity, and your commitment to our purpose.
We are committed to having a Board that reflects the diverse communities we serve. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups to help us make better decisions and provide wider perspectives.
Successful candidates will receive a full induction and support, including a training programme via The Connectives.

- Role Type: Voluntary (Expenses reimbursed).
- Commitment: 4 Board meetings annually, plus events (3-year term).
