Position: Maintenance Technician (Mechanical)

Overview

The Maintenance department are seeking Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join their busy team. We are looking for a highly motivated and professional individual who has the ability to prioritise workloads and identify potential improvements to operational systems and management processes in order to increase departmental efficiencies.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out day to day mechanical repairs, planned maintenance and improvements to the Trust's buildings in a manner that conforms to statutory regulations and codes of practice.
  • Responsible for installation of mechanical new work.
  • Be part of a multi skilled, multi disciplinary maintenance team.
  • Participation in the emergency on‑call will be required by contractual obligation to ensure safe systems and service continuity. Cross site working will also be required.
  • Analyse faults and undertake rectifications to ensure continuity of service.
  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance of essential systems across the Trust estate.
  • Depute for Team Leaders as required and coordinate with approved Contractors for maintenance breakdowns and repairs.
  • Maintain professional appearance and uphold the Trust's values, fostering professional and courteous relationships while respecting equality and diversity.
  • Cross site and on‑call duties to support statutory compliance and service delivery.
Knowledge,

Skills and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • A National Qualification Framework (NQF) achievement to level 3 or above (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent).
  • Mechanical / plumbing training for Electricians or Electrical training for Mechanical

Desirable criteria

  • Continuing training to latest Electrical Regulations
  • Competent person – Medical Gas Authorised Person, Electrical Training for Electrical Technicians, Legionella responsible person training for Mechanical Technicians

Experience

  • Essential:
    Experience in building services maintenance with a demonstrable track record of competence
  • Postholder to be multi‑skilled and able to deal with Mechanical, Building and Electrical Maintenance

Knowledge

  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Knowledge of Building Maintenance Issues
  • Knowledge of NHS and working in clinical areas
  • Knowledge of Estates maintenance

Skills

  • Complex fault diagnosis skills
  • Able to plan and prioritise work

Other

  • Desirable: BMS experience; computer based Risk and Asbestos Register familiarity
