We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to support work on a number of studies relating to measurement of early child development and neurodevelopmental disorders in low- and middle-income settings. This includes work on; REFINE - a study looking at the neurodevelopment of children exposed to HIV in pregnancy from 0-6 years in Malawi. This post will involve supporting the team based in Malawi as well as linking at all times to the main study group which are based between the US, Malawi and the UK.

You will work under the direction of Prof Melissa Gladstone and will work on overseeing the organisation of the study but also on new analyses and write ups of manuscripts relating to the study. This role would include supporting gaining any new ethical approvals, creating standard operating procedures, piloting tools with the team and supporting trainings of assessments. You should have a PhD In psychology, neuroscience or neurodevelopmental related field.

You should have experience in research particularly in supporting ethics applications, protocol development, manuscript development and analysis of data (qualitative or quantitative). Those with field-based research or experience would be looked on favourably. You should have comprehensive IT skills including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher and will need to have or gain a Good Clinical Practice certificate. The post is available for one year in the first instance but is likely to be extended to at least three years.

We would consider those who wanted to work part-time.

If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
