Registered ODP/Nurse

Exciting opportunity to join our expanding endoscopy unit at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

We are one of the largest endoscopy level 4 units. We currently run 7 theatres at the Royal Liverpool and are expanding to Broadgreen Hospital with 3 extra procedure rooms.

We are a JAG accredited unit and perform daily activity such as EMR, ERCP, Bronchoscopy, colonoscopy and bowel cancer screening. We currently run 4 GA lists a week. Endoscopy experience desirable but not essential as extensive training will be given.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care.
  • Work as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team, with good communication skills and undertake delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers.
  • Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care; inform the nurse in charge of changes in circumstances that may affect patient care.
  • Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines.
  • Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit.
  • Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients.
  • Provide information and support to patients/carers, and ensure all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patients’ condition.
  • Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs.
  • Develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via both planned and unplanned routes.
  • Under supervision to undertake expanded practice to optimise patient care in accordance with ward/department and Trust policies.
  • Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivery of care.
  • Ensure effective lines of communication within the ward/department multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications

Endoscopy experience desirable; extensive training will be provided. Candidate must be a registered nurse with relevant competencies.
