Power Press Maintenance Engineer
Location:
Bootle, Merseyside
Salary: £47,500 per annum
Shift: Day Shift
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Power Press Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team at our Bootle facility. This is a day shift position offering a competitive salary of £47,500. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of power presses, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on power presses in accordance with HSG
236 guidance for power press safety.
Ensure all power presses are maintained to the required safety standards and are safe to operate.
Conduct thorough examinations and maintenance checks on press tools, guards, safety systems, and associated equipment.
Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records in line with company and regulatory requirements.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on power presses and implement effective repairs.
Support production teams by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimising downtime.
When not working on power presses, assist the wider maintenance team with servicing, repairing, and improving other production machinery across the site.
Participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules across manufacturing equipment.
Work closely with engineering and production teams to continuously improve machine reliability and safety.
Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Requirements
Proven experience maintaining and repairing power presses in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of safety requirements and inspection procedures for power presses, including compliance with HSG
236.
Mechanical maintenance background (electrical knowledge is advantageous).
Experience with fault finding, preventative maintenance, and machinery repair.
Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe systems of work.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Desirable Skills
Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering.
Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
Familiarity with general production machinery including conveyors, automated equipment, and packaging lines.
