Overview
We are supporting a food & beverage manufacturer based in Liverpool that requires an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support site-based commissioning activities on production and processing equipment.
This is a hands-on, fully onsite role, and candidates must be able to work daily in the Merseyside area. Extensive Food & Beverage commissioning experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support commissioning activities for food & beverage production and processing equipment
Carry out site acceptance testing (SAT) and support FAT follow-through where required
Commission machinery in line with food safety, hygiene, and validation requirements
Work closely with:
Controls / Automation Engineers
Maintenance & Engineering teams
Production and Operations teams
Fault finding and rectification during commissioning and ramp-up phases
Ensure equipment meets performance, safety, and quality standards
Support handover to production, including operator and maintenance input
Produce and update commissioning documentation, test records, and sign-off reports
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven Commissioning Engineer experience within the Food & Beverage sector (non-negotiable)
Strong understanding of:
Food production lines
Hygienic design principles
CIP / SIP processes (where applicable)
Experience commissioning:
Packaging lines
Processing equipment
Conveyors, fillers, ovens, mixers, or similar F&B machinery
Strong fault-finding capability across electrical, controls, and mechanical interfaces
Comfortable working in a live production environment
Able to work fully onsite in Liverpool / Merseyside
Desirable (but not essential)
PLC exposure (Siemens / Allen Bradley / similar)
Experience working on high-speed or continuous process lines
Food safety knowledge (BRC, HACCP, GMP environments)
