Hygiene Operative

Join the fast‑paced team at Protein Works as a Hygiene Operative. You will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and contributing to a safe working environment.

• Perform deep cleaning of food production equipment, machinery, and work areas to meet hygiene and safety standards.
• Manual cleaning of large/heavy equipment, including disassembly and reassembly where required.
• Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and sanitising agents, ensuring safe and correct usage.
• Follow cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., BRC, HACCP).
• Conduct swabbing and hygiene verification checks as required.
• Work effectively with production, engineering and quality assurance teams to minimise contamination risks.
• Maintain accurate cleaning records and report any issues to management.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with waste disposal and ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy.
• Carry out any other reasonable requests to meet the needs of the business.

• Previous experience in a hygiene or cleaning role within food manufacturing or a similar environment (preferred).
• Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene procedures (training will be provided).
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting.
• Have a flexible, positive approach to working.
• Be highly motivated, determined and an enthusiastic individual.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

• 7.5 hour shifts
• Monday – Friday
• 2pm – 10pm
