Overview

We are looking for a Risk Lead to join a high performing and motivated Risk and Governance team. You will be the lead for risk management within the organisation. This post provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of the services and to work at a strategic level within The Walton Centre.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead on the implementation and delivery of a range of clinical governance activities with a focus on risk, incidents and investigations.
  • Support the Trust to meet regulatory requirements of external standards and inspections.
  • Act as a specialist resource within the Trust, applying knowledge of clinical governance with a focus on risk and incident management.
  • Provide leadership and operational management of the risk management team.
  • Provide strategic and management leadership for the rollout and development of the Trust's Integrated Risk Management System (DATIX).
  • Lead for serious incident management, including managing, reporting, coordinating investigations, and responding to serious incidents; liaising with Trust Executives, senior managers and external organisations (including NHS England).
  • Ensure compliance with Duty of Candour, including communicating with patients requiring notification.
  • Develop systems and processes to enable organisational learning and shared practices.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualifications:

    Professional knowledge plus additional specialist, management knowledge at masters level or equivalent; postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in risk management.
  • Knowledge &

    Experience:

    Training/presenting qualification or relevant experience in training/presenting; experience of managing staff; excellent knowledge of DATIX Integrated Risk Management Software including system design and implementation; experience of risk assessment; knowledge of Duty of Candour; NHS environment experience; use of computer packages; good working knowledge of NHS risk management; experience of working with senior managers and leaders.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    Strong attention to detail; able to prioritise and meet deadlines; ability to convey confidential information and appropriate action; capable of implementing a future development vision; ability to handle ambiguity and complexity; patient/carer focus with a nonjudgmental attitude; commitment to service improvement; communication of vision for change; stakeholder engagement; problem solving; ability to develop relationships; leadership credibility; confident and able to inspire others;
