General Building Engineer and General Building Operative
Taskmaster Resources are looking for a General Building Engineer and a Genera Building Operative to work on-site in HMP Gartree (Market Harborough LE16).
General Building Engineer Working hoursThe standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place). There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
General Building Engineer Pay rate£20.00-£25.00 PH
General Building Engineer Duties- Ensuring availability of critical parts for statutory tasks and managing remedial tasks in the CAFM system.
- Performing general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including security systems like CCTV and alarms.
- Conducting monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses.
- Completing quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
- Maintaining fire doors and performing flushing and tap temperature tests as per water risk assessments.
- Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
- Checking and testing smoke vents as required.
- Carrying out any other duties as required.
- Experienced in multiple areas of maintenance such as:
Fire;
Door Maintenance, Extinguisher Maintenance and Alarm Core Points. - Emergency Lighting.
- RCD.
- Water Temperature Testing.
- IT skills.

General Building Operative Pay rate£15.00-£18.00 PH
General Building Operative Duties- Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
- Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
- Complete tasks associated with DIY such as Decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repair of items around the prison.
- Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and all defects reported to Team Leader.
- General good housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds if required.
- All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.
- This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
- Solid experience in DIY/ general building maintenance.
- CITB relevant certification or equivalent.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work well in a team.
