Job Description

Technical Business Analyst – BA

Location:
Liverpool

Contract Type:

Hours:Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 – 1 hour lunch. (35 hours per week)

The Legal Technical Business Analyst acts as the bridge between legal teams, IT, and business stakeholders, ensuring that legal processes, case management systems, and digital tools are optimised, efficient, and compliant. The role combines legal-process expertise with strong analytical, technical, and project-delivery skills.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

  • Engage with fee earners, support teams, and department heads to capture business requirements, pain points, and improvement opportunities
  • Map and analyse end‑to‑end legal workflows (e.g., litigation, claims handling, onboarding, disclosure, billing
  • Translate legal and operational requirements into clear functional and technical specifications
  • Perform gap analysis on existing systems, identifying optimisation opportunities

Legal Technology & Case Management Systems

  • Act as a product owner or subject‑matter expert for legal tech platforms (e.g., Proclaim, Toca, CRM systems)
  • Support system configuration, workflow updates, template management, data structures, and automation prototypes
  • Liaise with developers to ensure requirements are correctly translated into system changes
  • Test new features, integrations, automations, and releases before deployment

Data, Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce MI/BI reports, dashboards, and data extracts relevant to performance, SLA compliance, case progress, and operational KPIs
  • Ensure all solutions support UK GDPR, SRA, and internal governance requirements
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis for system or process issues, ensuring accurate data flow and integrity

Process Optimisation & Change Delivery

  • Design improved processes that streamline legal workflows, remove inefficiencies, and reduce manual work
  • Support low‑code/no‑code automation initiatives (Power Platform, workflow automations, document templates)
  • Lead or support change projects including requirement documentation, UAT, training support, and go‑live
  • Conduct stakeholder workshops and present solution proposals or impact assessments

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Work closely with legal teams, IT, compliance, finance, and senior management to understand priorities and maintain alignment
  • Translate technical terms into accessible business language
  • Provide training or guidance on new systems, features, or processes

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience working within a law firm, legal services provider, insurance/litigation environment, or similar regulated sector
  • Strong understanding of legal workflows (e.g., PI, credit hire, litigation, conveyancing, commercial)
  • Experience analysing business processes and producing documentation (BPMN, user stories, functional specs)
  • Understanding of case management systems (CMS), document management systems (DMS), and legal workflow automation
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and produce meaningful insights
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Experience with Proclaim, Toca, SharePoint, Power Platform, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of SQL, data modelling, or advanced Excel/Power BI
  • Experience delivering digital transformation or automation projects
  • Understanding of SRA rules, UK GDPR, and legal compliance frameworks
