This is a role within Sterile Services Department where training is provided on the reprocessing of reusable Surgical Instruments.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • IDSc Technical Certificate is required, or the successful candidate will be required to prepare to undertake and complete the IDSc Technical Certificate within 2 years of their start date of employment.
  • Good standard of English literacy and numeracy – Grade C or above.
  • Previous experience in a highly regulated, quality‑controlled or military‑disciplined environment is an advantage and working to strict procedures and deadlines is essential at all times.
  • Flexibility to drive Department Vehicles.
  • Must be a current employee of one of the five LAASP organisations: the Clatterbridge Centre, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals, Liverpool Women's Hospital or the Walton Centre.
  • You must not have been a previous applicant for this role.
Hours
  • Permanent, 1 x weekly alternating shift: 6 am – 2 pm / 2 pm – 10 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Total of 37.5 hours per week with enhancements.
Responsibilities
  • Operate instrument washer disinfectors and sterilisers, and undertake manual handling duties.
  • Use IT bar‑code and scanning and labelling systems, and scan medical instrument sets through all stages of production.
  • Follow safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly and sterilisation of instruments & equipment within predefined quality standards.
  • Ensure that operational activities fully comply with all Health & Safety procedures & guidelines.
  • Utilise & share knowledge.

The post holder will provide a critical decontamination service to Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will operate within ISO 13485 regulatory and international standards.

We are part of the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, formed on 1 Nov 2024 from the coming together of LUHFT and Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust.
