Overview
The Exercise Physiologist plays a key role in supporting the health, wellbeing, and cardiac fitness of our patients. You will assess individual patient needs and design safe, personalized exercise programmes for people with a range of heart conditions.
ResponsibilitiesWorking autonomously and as part of our multidisciplinary cardiac rehabilitation team, you will apply exercise science knowledge to help patients improve cardiac function and quality of life.
- Develop and implement safe, individualized exercise programs for patients with cardiac conditions.
- Set appropriate exercise goals and facilitate patients’ return to work or daily activities.
- Teach cardiovascular and strength training exercises; lead group warm-up and cool-down sessions.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust programs as needed, and provide home‑based exercise prescriptions for home rehabilitation.
- Offer education on safe exercise and its benefits for cardiac health, and prepare comprehensive exercise plans with onward referrals upon discharge.
- Maintain equipment, ensure a safe environment, liaise with the clinical team about patient progress, and accurately document patient records according to Trust guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have experience prescribing and delivering exercise programmes, preferably within a cardiac rehabilitation setting, along with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others achieve their fitness and wellness goals.
