Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join the busy, well-established Emergency surgical and urology Assessment team at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The post holder will work alongside a team of urology and surgical clinicians to support the service in triaging and accepting referrals from both primary and secondary care, utilising and developing urology and surgical pathways to enhance the patient experience and flow throughout the department.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough clinical assessments and identify appropriate investigations to reach a diagnosis; initiate a patient-specific treatment pathway whether inpatients or via outpatient pathways and/or the virtual review ward.
  • Triages and accepts referrals from primary and secondary care, developing and utilising urology and surgical pathways to improve patient experience and department flow.
  • Work within local ambulatory care pathways and support service development as requested.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills including venepuncture, cannulation, catheterization and obtaining arterial blood gases; act swiftly to identify and stabilise deteriorating patients in emergency situations.
  • Support the junior doctor team in documenting in patients’ medical records; prioritise and delegate tasks in line with leadership responsibilities.
  • Provide autonomous, high-quality, safe and supportive clinical service while adhering to the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England.
  • Maintain and develop a professional portfolio evidencing the four pillars of advanced clinical practice, with progression while in the role.
