Practitioner Psychologist​/Senior Psychotherapist

Overview

A fixed‑term opportunity as a practitioner psychologist or CBT therapist in the Early Intervention for Psychosis Service (EIP) located at Baird House, Liverpool. The role is 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week) for 9 months, covering maternity leave within a well‑regarded community‑based multidisciplinary team.

The post is open to HCPC‑registered practitioner psychologists and/or BABCP‑accredited CBT therapists. Key responsibilities include the provision of CBT to service users experiencing first‑episode psychosis, delivery of specialist psychological assessments, formulation and implementation of treatment plans, and risk assessment and management.

• Provide specialist psychological assessments of service users referred to the team using complex data from a variety of sources.
• Formulate and implement formal psychological treatment and/or management plans based on an appropriate conceptual framework.
• Implement and evaluate a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, and groups, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatory models.
• Evaluate, monitor progress and make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors.
• Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment and discharge of service users within standard care plans.
• Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to formulation, diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Ensure all members of the clinical team have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding and care of service users through advice, consultation and dissemination of research and theory.
• Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual service users and provide general and specialist advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
• Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, monitoring and evaluating progress during multidisciplinary care.
• Provide expertise, advice and support to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the treatment team.

Qualified as HCPC registered practitioner psychologist and/or BABCP accredited CBT therapist. Experience of delivering CBT to service users experiencing first‑episode psychosis is desirable.
