Overview

The Northwest Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (ODN), in partnership with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, is seeking an exceptional Band 8a Neonatal Nurse Specialist to lead and develop care for neonates with complex medical needs (CMC) across the region. As the Roald Dahl Neonatal CMC Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert clinical leadership and specialist nursing care for neonates with complex, life-limiting, or long-term conditions across the Northwest Neonatal ODN.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a clinical expert and system leader for neonatal medical complexity.
  • Build trusted relationships with families from the earliest stages, including antenatal diagnosis where appropriate.
  • Bridge neonatal and children's services, ensuring safe, compassionate, and seamless transitions of care.
  • Lead network-wide education, quality improvement, audit, and clinical effectiveness initiatives.
  • Collaborate across neonatal units, maternity, paediatrics, community services, social care, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Champion family-centred, coordinated, and compassionate care, aligned with NHS values and the Roald Dahl nursing model.

About the Trust

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care with a presence in community outreach sites. Our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at Sunflower House.

We are one of Europe’s largest and busiest children’s hospitals, with paediatric services at community sites across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales and the Isle of Man.
