Overview

Are you an experienced nursing leader with excellent communication skills, a passion for excellence in care and an ability to manage complexity and varied challenges? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join us as the Ward Manager for our 30-bed Complex Rehabilitation Unit (CRU), part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network (CMRN), the largest national collaborative partnership between provider and commissioning organisations.

Unit

Description

CRU cares for patients with complex rehabilitation needs requiring level 1 and level 2 rehabilitation, supporting delivery of specialist rehabilitation services across a pathway from hyperacute to community services.

The CMRN works collaboratively with six provider partner organisations and multiple commissioning organisations, resulting in a comprehensive model of specialist rehabilitation care to provide supportive, active and extended specialist rehabilitation to adults following traumatic injury or illness. One of the unique aspects of the service is that provision is based on patient need as opposed to diagnosis.

Role Overview

As the Ward Manager you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the nursing care standards on the wards. You will be integral to culture setting with the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team, and will ensure the delivery of high‑quality, patient and family‑centred care.

As a Ward Manager the post holder is responsible for the clinical leadership on the ward, driving forward nursing practice to further develop quality patient and family‑centred care.

Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Hold 24‑hour responsibility for the ward team with support from the Matron and Divisional Nursing team. They will ensure they lead and manage the ward so that safe, high quality, evidence‑based nursing care is delivered to patients whilst respecting and involving patients, families and carers.
  • Ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Provide effective leadership and management by acting as a role model, having a clear vision, and supporting the development of the team.
  • Manage resources efficiently.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives and the Nursing Strategy, working collaboratively with the Senior nursing teams and Divisional managers.
  • Serve as a key senior member of the CMRN management group and be fully integrated and engaged in CMRN working.
Qualifications

The post holder must possess a current NMC registration and hold a recognised teaching/mentorship qualification.
