This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy and progressive cardiac diagnostics department. The majority of work will be performing 12-Lead ECG's at both LHCH and community venues, along with fitting / removal of ambulatory ECG and blood pressure devices.
Main duties of the job- To record ECGs in designated places throughout LHCH and community venues.
- To comply with departmental policy ensuring optimal quality recordings.
- Demonstrates empathy when dealing with patients in distressing conditions.
- To be proficient at basic ECG interpretation.
- To ensure that all data both self-recorded and non-self-recorded is appropriately archived in line with departmental procedures.
- Perform Ambulatory and BP Monitoring Hook up.
- Assists in monitoring and maintaining quality of services within Cardiac diagnostics.
- Ensures that individual own level of practice is kept up to date with current developments in the field of Cardiology.
- Attach/removal and downloading of Ambulatory Monitoring equipment.
- To communicate effectively with patients.
- To communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- To ensure correct maintenance and cleaning of equipment adhering to the Trust and departmental policies.
- Active involvement in risk assessment, Health & Safety, Infection control.
- Help in maintaining appropriate stock control.

Job responsibilitiesMain Duties To ensure that ECGs are recorded in line with departmental policies, and monitor quality control of the ECG service. Perform ambulatory and BP monitor hook up within the hospital and community clinics. To assist Cardiac Physiologists in designated clinical areas.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assists in monitoring and maintaining quality of services within Cardiac diagnostics.
- Ensures that individual own level of practice is kept up to date with current developments in the field of Cardiology.
- Attach/removal and downloading of Ambulatory Monitoring equipment.
- To communicate effectively with patients.
- To communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- To ensure correct maintenance and cleaning of equipment adhering to the Trust and departmental policies.

- Acquire / Maintain BLS resuscitation competence.
CLINICAL GOVERNANCE / MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures good communication within the department.
- Actively promotes Cardiac Diagnostics (ECG Dept), inside and outside the trust.
- Ensures that clinical governance and clinical risk management are integrated into systems of patient care.
- Participate in service development/training initiatives with colleagues.
- Contributes and aids implementation of departmental policies & procedures.
- Ensure that confidentiality of patients records is strictly maintained and complies with the Data Protection Act.
- Recognise peoples equality, diversity and rights.
- Feedback information on complaints / accidents / incidents to the PCP.
- Communicates with other departments involved in supporting the service (i.e. domestics, porters, etc.).
EDUCATION / DEVELOPMENT
- To attend and complete In House ATO Training programme.
- To be trained in using the ZIO Holter ECG system.
- To participate if required in teaching practical ECG skills to ATOs & Trainee CP, Medical and Nursing staff.
- To support basic interpretation training to the above mentioned groups.
- To undertake mandatory training in line with departmental and Trust policies.
- To undertake relevant training / workshop sessions as identified on performance review for continuing professional development.
