Salary:
Up to £60,000 depending on experience
We are seeking an Accountant to join a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation. This role will play a crucial part in financial control, cost management, and operational performance within a complex manufacturing environment. If you have strong cost accounting expertise and enjoy working closely with production teams, this is a brilliant opportunity to add real value.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, year-end reporting and support external audit activity, ensuring strong compliance with UK GAAP and internal controls.
- Maintain and improve standard costing models, analyse production variances, and oversee WIP and inventory valuation to ensure accuracy and insight for operational teams.
- Lead budgeting activity for manufacturing operations while producing rolling forecasts, cashflow projections, and financial insight for production planning.
- Partner closely with operations, engineering and supply chain teams to influence decision-making, support cost-reduction initiatives, and improve operational performance.
- Analyse programme profitability, pricing and BOM cost structures, providing clear financial guidance across multiple aircraft variants and long-term manufacturing projects.
- Drive improvements across financial processes and ERP utilisation, supporting system enhancements and promoting stronger data integrity and reporting capability.
- Fully qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory management and project accounting.
- Confident working within ERP systems with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical ability and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
A recognised ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (fully or almost fully qualified).
