A growing and highly progressive commercial lender is looking to strengthen its underwriting team with the appointment of an experienced Mortgage Underwriter.

The Role

As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing mortgage applications and making well-reasoned lending decisions in line with company policy and risk appetite.

You will work closely with brokers, internal teams and senior stakeholders to ensure deals are reviewed efficiently while maintaining strong credit standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Underwrite residential or commercial mortgage applications in line with internal credit policies

* Assess borrower affordability, creditworthiness and overall lending risk

* Review supporting documentation including financials, valuations and credit reports

* Liaise with brokers and internal teams to progress applications efficiently

* Make balanced lending decisions while maintaining a strong customer-focused approach

* Contribute to maintaining service levels and delivering a smooth underwriting process

What We’re Looking For

* Minimum 1 year underwriting experience within residential or commercial mortgages

* Strong understanding of mortgage lending principles and credit assessment

* Ability to analyse financial information and make sound lending decisions

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

* Highly organised with strong attention to detail

* A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
