Legal Cashier Overall Purpose

Accurate managing and recording of incoming and outgoing bank transactions in accordance with Solicitors Accounts Rules

Working closely with an experienced senior legal cashier to provide support during busy times and holiday cover, and work alongside the legal practice finance team

Key Tasks, Duties and Quality Standards

Checking of 3 on-line banking platforms for any new bank transactions

Identifying the nature of the transactions and entering details into the practice accounting system

Entering details of payments into the on-line banking platforms and managing the payments through the appropriate levels of approvals and authorisations

Effective communication with the legal teams and clients of the firm, and conducting some investigations into the nature of the transaction where necessary

Adhering to policies and procedures of the finance function and wider legal business and ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules

Assisting the legal teams to explain and understand the financial transactions, providing ad hoc financial support to the legal teams as required

General support to the wider finance team as required

Requirements

Good communication
Attention to detail
Working under pressure / to a deadline
Working with professionalism in an office environment
Ability to work with numbers (good academic background in maths for example) and some basic IT skills are necessary
Willingness to learn and keen to progress
