Role Purpose

Reporting to the RTR Manager, the RTR Assistant Accountant will be a key member of the SSC team. The role is responsible for processing RTR transactions, maintaining financial controls, responding to queries, and resolving issues as they arise.

While the core focus sits within the RTR process tower, the role offers development opportunities through exposure and rotation into other SSC functions, including Order-to-Cash, Purchase-to-Pay, and Master Data Management. The position is suitable for individuals at various stages of their career, from post-apprentice level upwards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Post manual journal entries to the general ledger and sub-ledgers.
  • Calculate accruals in line with standard policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform calculations, reconciliations, and ledger transactions relating to fixed assets, prepayments, intercompany activity, and accrued and deferred income.
  • Complete bank reconciliations by comparing financial records with bank statements.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-ledger close and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with entity-level VAT and CIS returns.
  • Ensure all RTR processes comply with internal policies, procedures, and control requirements.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues promptly to minimise disruption to RTR activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across the SSC, wider business, and external partners.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Apprentice-level experience or above in a finance or accounting role, ideally within an RTR or similar environment.
  • Studying towards, or having completed, a finance or accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or similar).
  • Working knowledge of core RTR activities including journals, accruals, reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Confident communicator with a proactive, development-focused mindset.
