Your new role
As a Junior Instrumentation Technician, you will work closely with an experienced engineering team to assist with both workshop-based tasks and field-based activities on client sites. This means you will gain exposure to a full spectrum of instrumentation work, from preparing, assembling and testing equipment in the workshop, through to supporting installations, maintenance and commissioning in real operational environments.
Your day‑to‑day responsibilities may include:
Assisting with the installation and wiring of instrumentation devices, sensors, transmitters and control panels.
Carrying out calibration, testing and repair tasks in the workshop and on customer sites.
Supporting fault-finding and diagnostics on instrumentation and basic electrical systems.
Helping prepare job packs, documentation and service reports.
Maintaining tools, equipment and a safe working space in both the workshop and client environments.
Travelling to customer sites to support field service, commissioning and maintenance work.
This role is designed to develop your technical capabilities, giving you hands‑on learning opportunities across varied equipment, environments and industries.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will ideally be currently undertaking or recently completed an apprenticeship in electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering, or a related discipline. You should demonstrate a genuine interest in progressing your skills and developing a career in instrumentation and control.
Key requirements include:
A foundational understanding of electrical principles and instrumentation systems gained through apprenticeship or study.
A strong willingness to learn, take direction and build practical skills.
A positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Basic problem‑solving abilities and a safety‑focused approach to all tasks.
A full UK driving licence or a willingness to work towards obtaining one (advantageous for site work).What you'll get in return
