Bennett and Game are representing a multidisciplinary consultancy now looking to strengthen its Liverpool office with the appointment of a Civil Engineer specialising in drainage design, offering clear progression into client-facing responsibilities and management. With over 40 years of industry experience and around 60 staff across multiple UK offices, my client has built a strong reputation delivering civil engineering projects focused on drainage and flood risk management.

Their expertise includes adoptable drainage design, flood risk assessments and drainage strategies for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

Civil Engineer Job Overview
  • Designing adoptable and private drainage with the usual packages (Micro Drainage/Flow)
  • Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies to support planning
  • Coordinating drainage with foundations and other structures to avoid clashes
  • Preparing and supporting section applications for drainage design
  • Creating clear, accurate drawings for technical submissions
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders with scope to develop fee proposals and business development
Civil Engineer

Job Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in drainage.
  • Proficient with the usual drainage design software (Micro Drainage/Flow).
  • Able to produce planning‑grade FRAs and drainage strategies.
  • Strong coordination skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with the desire to grow into management and client engagement.
Civil Engineer Salary & Benefits
  • £35,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience.
  • Pension scheme: 5% employer contribution with 5% employee contribution.
  • Death in service: 3x salary payable to next of kin.
  • Pay Care wellbeing scheme: level 1 entry paid by the company.
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays plus an additional 4 days at Christmas for office closure.
  • Holiday purchase scheme after 12 months' service.
