We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Communication Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive college in Liverpool. This role involves supporting students with communication needs to help them fully access their learning and participate in college life. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to assist students with hearing impairments or other communication needs, ensuring they can engage effectively with lessons and course materials.
Key Responsibilities- Provide communication support for students within classroom settings and during college activities.
- Support students with hearing impairments or communication difficulties to access teaching and learning.
- Use appropriate communication methods such as British Sign Language (BSL), lip reading support, or other communication strategies where required.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and additional learning support teams.
- Encourage independence and confidence in students while supporting their academic and personal development.
- Assist in adapting learning materials where necessary to meet students' communication needs.
- Maintain clear communication with staff regarding student progress and support needs.
- Experience supporting young people or adults with communication needs, ideally in an education setting.
- Knowledge of BSL or other communication support methods (Level 2 or above desirable).
- A patient, supportive, and empathetic approach.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
