Learning Support Assistant - Brockenhurst / Lymington area - Temp to Perm Contract - ASAP start!
Academics are seeking an experienced and engaging Learning Support Assistant to join an SEN School in the New Forest area between Brockenhurst and Lymington. This is a full‑time, temporary to permanent contract starting after half term, ideally on Monday 2nd June.
Working hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday–Thursday and 8:30am – 4:00pm Friday. This role works 39 weeks of the year and pays £13.68 per hour.
The school caters for pupils aged 7‑19 years diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and other needs on the autistic spectrum. The successful candidate will support pupils across the school in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with special educational needs in an SEN environment
- Manage varying levels of challenging behaviour
- Adapt quickly to changing situations and think on your feet
- Work as part of a supportive team of senior leaders, teachers and support staff
Required skills and experience
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs, ideally in an SEN setting
- Empathetic, nurturing attitude
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
This is a challenging yet rewarding environment. Children have various levels of challenging behaviour and complex needs. The role is suited for someone who enjoys variety and has a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
The team will provide the necessary training.
