About The Role
Can you help turn learning into a two-way conversation? As a Communication Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in ensuring deaf and hearing‑impaired students can fully access, engage with and thrive in their learning.
You will provide high‑quality British Sign Language (BSL) support across a range of programmes and courses, helping students to communicate confidently and participate fully in college life.
Responsibilities- Deliver clear and accurate BSL signing in learning environments
- Use a range of creative support strategies to adapt tasks, resources and activities
- Encourage and motivate students to develop independence and confidence
- Work closely with ALS tutors and teaching staff to tailor support effectively
- Contribute to EHCP In‑Year Reviews for students with hearing impairment
- Attend and support communication in Annual Reviews
- Act as an advocate for students, helping their voices be heard
- Supporting with personal care
- Assisting with mobility
- Meeting specific medical or feeding needs
12.5 hours per week, 37 weeks per year. Working pattern:
Each Monday plus one half day during the week.
Salary per year: £7,385 (inc holiday pay).
About YouWe are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to provide high‑quality British Sign Language (BSL) support to learners with a hearing impairment who are studying on mainstream courses.
You will be a motivated and imaginative signer, qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in BSL, with a genuine passion for helping students succeed. You will nurture positive attitudes to learning and play a key role in achieving the very best outcomes for our students.

- Provide clear and effective BSL signing support to individuals and groups
- Enable learners to fully access their curriculum and college experience
- Inspire confidence, independence and engagement in learning
- Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to tailor support
- Make a meaningful contribution to the development of teaching and learning across EKC Group
- Use your understanding of Additional Learning Support to remove barriers and unlock potential
