Adult and Paediatric Interventional Radiology Consultant

Location:

Aintree Hospital and Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Offer a wide range of general and emergency interventional procedures for adults and children;
    Specialist Fellowship training is preferable for paediatric IR work.
  • Contribute to interventional radiology department activities including vetting, clinical advice, ultrasound intervention, CT guided procedures and IR theatre work.
  • Join the LUHFT IR on‑call rota and cover paediatric out‑of‑hours vascular emergencies on LUHFT on‑call days.
  • Work within a 10 PA job plan with 1.25 PA allocated for dual‑site on‑call; additional paediatric on‑call work may be agreed via service level agreement.
  • Support future development of a separate paediatric on‑call rota, potentially migrating to an Alder Hey only IR on‑call (not purely vascular emergencies) on a 1:5 rota.
  • During the 1.5 allocated SPAs (1 SPA can be taken off site), contribute to management, training and research activities of the department.
Essential Qualifications
  • Completed formal training in interventional radiology.
  • Experience in general and emergency interventional procedures for adults and children.
  • Strong knowledge of interventional radiology departments, including ultrasound, CT guidance, and theatre work.
