Consultant Cardiac Surgeon - Location:
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, Liverpool L14 3PE - Contract:
Permanent, Full‑time (11.75 PA) - Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum
- Grade:
Consultant - On‑call: 1 in 10 rota, Category A frequency payment
- Provide general cardiac surgery care within the Trust.
- Engage in research, audit and teaching commitments.
- Participate in the annual appraisal process, GMC revalidation and job plan reviews.
- Flexibly manage workload in line with needs of the surgical division.
- Mentor and support resident doctors and junior colleagues.
- Full GMC registration.
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register via CCT, CESR or equivalent European rights.
- Appropriate higher Cardiothoracic specialist surgical qualification (FRCS or FECTS) or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years cardiovascular surgery experience.
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Expert clinical opinion on a range of cardiac problems in emergency and elective settings.
- Independent responsibility for patient clinical care.
- Evidence of ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating lists.
- Ability to manage and lead a surgical firm.
- Experience of postgraduate teaching and delivery of programmes.
- Ability to teach clinical and operative skills.
- Attendance of Training the Trainer course.
- Experience of audit management (completed audit cycle).
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems.
- Peer reviewed publications.
- Evidence of teamwork and innovation engagement.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Critical enquiry approach to work.
- Patient caring attitude.
- Effective communication with patients, relatives, GP's, nurses and other agencies.
- Commitment to Continuing Medical Education.
