Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post is that of a Substantive Specialty Dentist in Oral Medicine (1.0 WTE) based at Liverpool University Dental Hospital hosted by Liverpool University Dental Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation.
The Clinical Duties Of The Specialty Dentist Will Be:
- To participate in the Oral Medicine service, including daytime emergency cover and inpatient referrals as required, in conjunction with the senior clinicians.
- To undertake oral mucosal biopsies under local anaesthesia.
- Together with the consultants, to have continuing responsibility for the care of patients including monitoring of clinical test results and responding to urgent patient queries.
- To participate in the training and continuing education of junior hospital staff.
- To participate in the teaching of undergraduate dental students if required.
- To participate in quality improvement projects and patient safety initiatives.
- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC).
- MFDS/FDSRCS or equivalent
- Have a minimum of 4 years' post qualification experience.
- Post graduate clinical teaching qualification.
- Fully subscribed member of a recognised professional defence organisation.
- Commitment to effective departmental management.
- Ability to participate as part of a clinical teaching team.
- Extensive experience in Oral Medicine
- BLS trained
- Ability to participate in training junior hospital staff.
- Experience at Speciality Dentist level in Oral Medicine
- Previous experience as DCT or equivalent in Maxillofacial Surgery/Oral Medicine
- Previous experience as DCT3 in Oral Medicine/Oral Pathology
- ILS/ALS trained
- Experience of teaching at undergraduate level.
- Evidence of active participation in clinical audit/service evaluations/quality improvement programmes
- Willingness to play a part in Audit meetings at Trust and Regional level.
