Position: DFG (Disabled Facilities Grant) Surveyor – AR

Job Title:

Surveyor – Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)

To provide technical and surveying support for the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) schemes, ensuring housing adaptations are safe, appropriate, compliant, and meet the assessed needs of disabled residents.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out property surveys and technical inspections to assess the feasibility of housing adaptations funded through the Disabled Facilities Grant.

Provide technical advice and recommendations on proposed adaptations, including ramps, level-access showers, stairlifts, and internal alterations.

Prepare or contribute to specifications of works, drawings, and schedules for contractors.

Work closely with Occupational Therapists, Housing Officers, contractors, and grant teams to ensure adaptations meet client needs and DFG requirements.

Ensure all works comply with Building Regulations, health and safety legislation, and relevant standards.

Support the procurement and delivery of DFG projects, including responding to contractor queries and undertaking site inspections.

Monitor works on site and assist with final inspections and sign-off of completed adaptations.

Maintain accurate records and provide technical input to reports and grant documentation.

Skills and Experience

Experience in building surveying, construction, or housing adaptations.

Good understanding of Disabled Facilities Grant processes or similar housing grant schemes.

Knowledge of building construction, accessibility standards, and inclusive design.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical clients.

Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple cases.

Desirable

Experience working within a local authority or housing association.

Awareness of the needs of disabled or vulnerable residents.

Relevant qualification in building surveying, construction, or a related discipline.
