About this Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Accounts Assistant with strong credit control experience. This varied role focuses on credit control, managing all incoming payments, preparing residential landlord statements, maintaining leaseholder and tenant accounts, and supporting the wider finance team with essential day-to-day accounting processes.
Responsibilities- Perform proactive credit control duties to reduce the aged debtor balance by chasing outstanding rent and charges through phone calls, email, and written correspondence
- Handle and resolve client, leaseholder and tenant queries in a professional manner via email and phone
- Process, post and allocate all incoming leaseholder and tenant payments, including cheques, bank transfers, and online portal transactions
- Raise and issue tenant rent demands and service-charge invoices in accordance with tenancy agreements and leases
- Process lease assignments, tenancy renewals, tenancy terminations, and set-ups for new tenancies
- Manage deposit refund calculations and process returns in accordance with deposit scheme regulations
- Support property managers with financial queries and leaseholder documentation
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams to support smooth financial operations
- Provide support with general accounting duties and participate in day-to-day finance processes as needed
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant role, ideally within property management or real estate (preferred)
- Strong background in credit control or debt collection, ideally within property management
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and assertive when required
- Proactive approach with strong initiative, able to anticipate issues and take action without being prompted
- High levels of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with property management systems (QUBE) (desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
- Working towards an accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA)
- Working towards a property management qualification (e.g., ARLA, IRPM, RICS)
