Our client, a well-established general engineering contractor for over 60 years with locations in California, Nevada and Texas, is seeking a seasoned Safety and Health Supervisor to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a driven individual with deep experience in water infrastructures, from Waster water Pump Sations, sewage lift stations, storm water pumping facilities and treatment plants. This role is critical to the company's continued success with safety on complex and essential projects.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Quality Control Manager for Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) to oversee and enhance the quality assurance and control processes within our client’s operations. This pivotal role involves ensuring compliance with international standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems to maintain the highest levels of operational excellence. The ideal candidate will lead quality inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to sustainable water treatment solutions while ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory adherence. This opportunity is offered in the San Jose, CA area.

Duties
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems aligned with ISO 9001 standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular quality audits across all WWTP processes to verify compliance with ISO 13485, FDA regulations, HACCP, CGMP, and other applicable standards.
  • Oversee quality inspection activities at various stages of wastewater treatment operations to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality issues, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to develop effective solutions.
  • Manage documentation related to quality control procedures, audit reports, non‑conformance reports, and corrective action plans.
  • Monitor adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all quality‑related activities.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation, execution, and follow‑up to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance on quality systems, inspection techniques, and regulatory requirements to staff members.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to uphold product integrity through rigorous QA/QC practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing process efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Experience working for a contractor as a QC Manager
  • 10 years experience in the construction of a water treatment plant
  • Proven experience in quality control or assurance within wastewater treatment or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 9001 standards, FDA regulations, HACCP principles, CGMP guidelines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting quality audits and inspections across complex operational settings.
  • Familiarity with quality management software and analysis tools for data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with attention to detail and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills for training staff and liaising with regulatory bodies. This role is integral to maintaining our commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
