Overview
Arroyo Veterinary Center offers externships for veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education. Externs work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Externs will have opportunities to practice communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks and are offered to 4th year veterinary students. A stipend is available for students in the clinical portion of their education.

Responsibilities- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans and diagnostics.
- Provide dentistry services and assist or perform surgical procedures as appropriate.
- Medically manage patients and monitor responses to treatment.
- Communicate effectively with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
- Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for the externship and related stipend; 4th year veterinary students are typical participants.
- Willingness to engage in hands-on clinical skills and professional communication.
The stipend amount for Arroyo Veterinary Center is $1,000. National Veterinary Associates offers a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, a 401k with employer match, and paid time off for eligible employees.
