Overview
The Environmental Health and Safety Program Manager, Zone 7 classification is a single position located in the Maintenance Division within the Zone 7 Water Agency and reports to the Maintenance Manager, Zone 7. The incumbent will be responsible for performing administrative environmental, health and safety, and emergency response duties in support of the Agency’s program and functions and providing first-line supervision to assigned safety staff.
This position serves as an active and visible proponent of safety and emergency preparedness, fostering an Agency-wide safety culture that values and respects all contributions while ensuring the Agency’s compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Possession of an Associate Science degree from an accredited college or university in occupational safety and health or a closely related field.
OR
Experience:
The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time, professional experience performing technical duties within safety, occupational health, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials programs, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role in that capacity.
Certificates:
- Possession of a valid CPR Certification
- Possession of a valid First Aid Certification
- Possession of a valid Confined Space Entry Training
- Possession of a valid HAZWOP
License:
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
Special RequirementsMust be able to use a respirator.
12 months of appointment, the employee must obtain:
- First Aid Instructor’s Certificate
- Completion of IS-100, 200, 700, 800
- An Emergency Management Certificate Program offered by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) or from an equivalent recognized organization, or a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) issued by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), or from an equivalent recognized organization.
Failure to obtain the above-listed certificates within one (1) year of hire date will be grounds for release from employment.
